Brinkman steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the dismissal of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming early showing last fall.

On Wednesday, 2K president a key figure notified team members about this decision through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had indicated the necessity for a distinct direction.

The president stated that the team is now reimagining Project Ethos with a refreshed vision, aiming to address community desires.

This announcement mirrors a comparable action taken by the publisher in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

I understand you all just wrapped up your meeting - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Last time I shared you all a note, I stated the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most driven and innovative developers we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re excited for that partnership to continue.”

Given your hard work and adaptability, especially over the last year, you continue to prove that.

The community feedback from last fall’s the game demo was enlightening. It validated the promise of a action-packed game but told us we still had work to do. It highlighted the need for a more distinct vision.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the feedback to consideration and overhauled the title with a renewed vision - one that’s ready to deliver on its promise to our fans.

Our confidence in this project increases every day. To further the incredible progress you’ve made, I’m excited to announce the new hire as the new Studio Head of 31st Union. After some time of conversations, he officially joins us on next week.

Ben’s leadership and experience in the competitive gaming space is considerable, having devoted the recent years creating and overseeing some of the most well-known series in the industry, for example the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, Apex Legends.
