Widely circulated footage seemed to capture Jones flashing his middle finger toward opposing supporters, though he maintains he was actually signaling approval to Cowboys fans present at the game as his team secured a decisive win.
“That was unfortunate. It was essentially an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “Present was a large group of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
He further clarified that the signal was completely unintentional, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the wrong digit,” he remarked. “It was accidentally performed. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. However, it got resolved rapidly.”

This incident isn’t the first time an NFL owner has been penalized for inappropriate behavior. Recent cases involve:
