The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
